Balls
This is a subject that comes up quite often it seems albeit in various contexts. I vividly remember my high school gym teacher saying "Gentlemen get some balls". At first I thought we were going to play dodge ball but that wasn't the case. He was upset after finding a young hoodlum firing up a J in the lavatory. I have no idea why he was so upset about this, it was a public school and that sort of thing was commonplace. Anyway he felt that we were letting an undesirable element take over the school. Note that I did not go to private school like some of you Ivy League fancylads. Yes, I know you're out there. Needless to say, we did calisthenics for the next 45 minutes. Balls are important. I think that is why Elmo wrote a book about them. My wife and I made sure to add this to our boy's library early on.

As illustrated in the story above the lack of balls can be a problem, conversely an excess of balls can also be troublesome. "You have got a lot of balls buddy" is usually followed by some verbal exchange or maybe even a beating. Anyway the balls I want to talk about are for sale. I have no affiliation with this company whatsoever but they are running a good deal on medicine balls. I ordered and received a 25 lb ball a couple of days ago and I have been having a blast with it ever since. You may recall a post from last summer where I made a medicine ball from a basketball. That one got up to a little under 20 lbs and that is about the heaviest I could make it with sand. I wanted a heavier one and once the price was right, so I jumped. The ball I had made previously had no bounce which is ok but the new one bounces. That is good or bad depending on what you are doing. If you do slams with a ball that bounces be very careful as it could bounce back and rearrange your face (please see video below).
The ball I purchased is of excellent quality and is a little bigger in diameter than the basketball I modified. That basketball won't last forever (or maybe even much longer) but the purchased ball seems built to last. We shall see. but so far, so good.
Below are links to some medicine ball drills as well as a link to muscledriver.com where I purchased mine. They are currently 35% off. Also mine came with a free t-shirt. Sweet!

Don't do this!
Till next time: think about getting some balls!
