Big Problems

It has been  a while since I posted anything so it is high time I got back to work on this.  I've been busy, what can I say?
Anyways, two interesting things happened yesterdayl.  I was in Walmart and I saw this gentleman who must have weighed 400 lbs (181.4 kg for my German readers), he had a shirt on that said 100% BIG.  No argument here.  What struck me was the fact that so many people are comfortable with their obesity.  I believe this has a lot to do with our current obesity epidemic.  The coincidence was that when I arrived home this article was on my browser home page:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070827/ap_on_he_me/obesity_rankings;_ylt=AhPzEv2AkQgWJcoaRNONqSjVJRIF

For those who are too busy to read it here are some highlights:
-Obesity rates rose in 31 states last year, it decreased in none
-Mississippi had the highest rate with 30% of adults falling into the obese catagory
-Colorado is the thinnest with a  17% obesity rate (that still sucks if you really think about it)
-22% of americans engaged in no physical activity in the past month

This is already wreaking havoc on our healthcare system.  As everyone knows health insurance costs are a major factor in the outsourcing of work and product manufacture to countries like India, China etc.  This results in lost jobs in America.  This brings us back to Walmart.  They are famous for selling low priced goods made in China.  Interestingly at any given time about 60% of shoppers at Walmart will fall into the catagory of morbid obesity.  If you don't believe me, go there and see for yourself.  So we see the entire problem encapsulated just with a trip to Walmart.   The solution, eat less, eat right and  move your body more.

Oh, the other interesting thing.  While at Walmart I bought some wrist bands for KB lifting.  They were made in the USA.  I was shocked.

Big road trip coming up.  I have a kettlebell packed in the car.  I can only bring one, per the Warden.  Planning lots of timed one arm long cycle and swings.  Plus some pushups and I brought a jump rope and my running shoes.

I plan to update this more frequently.  Lots of exciting stuff coming up.
