I was a teenage hand model
Actually no I wasn't. However that is the title of an old Queens of the Stoneage song. If you never listened to those guys perhaps you should, especially their first two albums. If you don't like their music may I suggest something by John Tesh or Yanni...
I am straying from the topic at hand (ha ha) . This is a bit of an addendum to a prior post about hand care. I made a few changes that have seemed to help. If my hands were ok before, they are even better now. At the Michigan event I asked Ken Blackburn if he wanted some chalk since he gave me a bag of it last March. It was Metolius superchalk. It is formulated with a drying agent so it really resists sweat. It dries your hands out too. Anyway Ken was like "I don't use that anymore, too hard on my hands". So I switched back to some regular gym chalk (Ader brand I believe) and things are much better. Strangers are complimenting me on my hands, my social life has never been more dynamic. Well not exactly but my hands are feeling better in spite of the fact that I added snatches back into the training mix. The combination of those with Long cycle was too much for my sissy hands to take before. Another reason was my kettlebells. Someone mentioned at the meet that the new AKC bells were a bit rough and sho' nuff I scoped out some of the older AKC bells and the handles were a lot smoother. When I got home I took a bastard file to them and now they are much better. I have no idea why they call it a bastard file. Perhaps because your hands will hurt like a bastard if you don't use it on your kettlebell handles. That has to be it. Anyway I am still very happy with the JB hand conditioner. My hands are less dry with the regular chalk and filing the handles helped too.
Till next time train smart.
